This saddle was designed by well known cowboy and horseman Bill Smith of Spur Texas. It is primarily used in Ranch Horse and Versatility competitions but is also good for everyday livestock work.
The seat is made flat enough for arena work but also has enough rise to be comfortable for long rides and hard stops. The swells set a bit higher than some of ours, and have leg undercuts for a narrow, comfortable seat.
It features a plate rigging and a rear rigging built into the rear jockey . The horn has a smaller 2″ cap. The saddle shown is made roughout. The skirts are lined with long lasting, 100% wool felt. This has a dense, shock absorbing effect without the break down over time of woolskin.
The Bill Smith Ranch Competition Saddle is made with handmade hardware and superior quick change stirrup buckles.
